Sandvik will be presenting at PowderMet 2021 – the leading North American technical conference on powder metallurgy and particulate materials.
Described as a “hub for technology transfer for professionals from every part of the industry”, PowderMet 2021 is conducted as a hybrid event in order to provide an opportunity for its participants to present their work and advance their knowledge regardless of travel restrictions. All recorded presentations will also be available on-demand – meaning registrants will no longer need to try and be in two places at once.
With nearly two centuries of materials expertise and well over 45 years’ experience from gas atomizing metal powders, Sandvik offers up the widest range of metal powders on the market under the Osprey® brand. Leandro Feitosa, PhD, is an Engineer in Powder Technology at Sandvik Additive Manufacturing:
“I very much look forward to participating in PowderMet 2021, where I’ll be speaking of the effect of atomization method and post-processing treatments on the microstructure and mechanical properties of one of our titanium alloys manufactured by laser powder bed fusion”, Dr. Feitosa comments.
Also representing Sandvik Additive Manufacturing at the hybrid event are Paul Davies, PhD, and Technical Solutions Manager, as well as Faraz Deirmina, PhD, and Senior R&D Engineer. Dr. Deirmina will present his work on the effects of heat treatment on mechanical properties of ultra-high strength maraging steels fabricated by additive manufacturing, while Dr. Davies is participating in the Alan Lawley Symposium’s atomizing session, sharing insights on the evolution of gas atomizing for advanced manufacturing processes.
“PowderMet provides an important opportunity of knowledge-sharing and networking. While we are starting to see some light at the end of this pandemic tunnel, I applaud the initiative of pivoting the event into this hybrid format; allowing for as many presenters as possible to partake and share the very latest in powder metallurgy – no matter their physical whereabouts and local restrictions”, Dr. Davies concludes.
